Dogs blast the Jets in regular season softball finale

May 17, 2024 - After three innings, Columbus North softball led Hauser by a narrow 1-0 advantage. That all changed in the top of the fourth inning as the Bull Dogs exploded for eleven runs and added four more in the top of the fifth to claim a 16-1 victory in their final regular season game of the season. Miley McClellan and Ali Wooten each had three hits, and Bailee Scruggs busted a three-run home run in the fourth inning, as the Dogs improved to 12-11. All three of these batters were credited with three RBI for the contest. Payton Morris pitched all five innings for the Dogs, allowing only five hits and one run while striking out five. North will face Shelbyville (15-9) in the first round of the Columbus East Sectional on Monday, May 20. Their game will begin following the conclusion of the 6:00 matchup between Columbus East and Franklin Community. The winner of the North vs Shelbyville game will face East Central in the second game on Tuesday night. North beat Shelbyville 15-7 on May 10.
