Columbus North falls to top-ranked Trojans

May 18, 2024 - Class 4A top-ranked Center Grove pounded out thirteen hits against Columbus North en route to a 9-3 victory on Friday evening (May 17). Columbus North used four pitchers as they begin to set up their pitching rotation for next week’s sectional tournament. Joey Fry got the start on the mound and threw the first one and two-thirds innings. Fry gave up six runs on four hits while walking four and striking out two. Ryan Rayburn then finished the second inning and pitched the third, allowing no runs on just two hits while striking out three. Jayce Emmit took the mound for the fourth inning and gave up a pair of runs on three hits. Jesse Clark finished the game and gave up one run on four hits, striking out one batter. Brock Kintner and Zach McLean each had two hits for the Bull Dogs (17-5) as McLean picked up a pair of RBI. The Dogs will play a doubleheader at the Carmel Greyhound Invitational on Saturday to conclude their regular season.
