May 21, 2024 - Early in North’s Columbus East Sectional round one game against Shelbyville, it looked as though Shelbyville’s pitcher was in total control. As the game progressed, the Dogs began to chip away and collect a few timely hits, eventually winning 4-0 and advancing to the semifinal round against East Central. Bailee Scruggs (shown) threw a complete-game shutout, scattering seven hits and walking two while striking out one. She got plenty of solid defense behind her throughout the contest. She also helped herself at the plate as she recorded two of the seven Bull Dog hits, including an RBI double. Kelsey Lovelace also had two hits, two runs, and two RBI. Payton Morris was credited with the fourth RBI. The Bull Dogs (13-11) will face East Central (17-9) in the semifinal round on Tuesday evening. They will play the second game at Columbus East with first pitch approximately thirty minutes after the conclusion of the 6:00 matchup between Whiteland and Franklin Community. Columbus North beat East Central 8-7 on March 28.
