May 22, 2024 - Columbus North softball season came to an end with a 2-1 loss to East Central (18-9) in the semifinals of the Columbus East Softball Sectional on Tuesday evening. The Trojans avenged an 8-7 loss to the Bull Dogs on March 28. Avery Sheehan (shown) had two hits for North (13-12), including a double and North’s only RBI of the game. Kelsey Lovelace and Summer Williams each had doubles, and Payton Morris and Miley McClellan each had singles in the loss. Bailee Scruggs went the distance in the pitcher’s circle for the Dogs, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits, while striking out two. Much of North’s squad will return next year with Lovelace, who earlier this season became the program’s all-time hits leader, being the only senior.
