May 22, 2024 - Columbus North finished tenth among 22 teams at the Shelbyville Regional Track and Field meet on Tuesday evening with 25 points. Warren Central won the team title with 87 points, followed by Whiteland (79) and Center Grove (69). Carys Glyn-Jones (shown) was the Regional champion in the 800m in a time of 2:14.98 and fourth in the 1600m (5:04.8). She earned a berth in the State Finals in that event when one of the three girls who finished ahead of her scratched from the State meet. It was likely that she would have been called back in that event anyway due to the time that she posted. Others that competed for Columbus North in the Shelbyville Regional but who did not earn automatic qualification for the State Finals included Emerson Chambers (7th in the 100m hurdles) Lily Miller (9th in the 300m hurdles) Natalie Rohm (12th in the 300m hurdles) Ava Collier (14th in the 400m) Tristan Works (13th in the 800m) Kyleigh Wolf (9th in the 1600m) Macy Eaton (8th in the 3200m) Avery Johnson (5th in the high jump) Sierra Newell (12th in the pole vault) 4x400m relay (Glyn-Jones, Reese Peeples, Johnson, Collier) - 11th 4x800m relay (Wolf, Eaton, Maggie Russell, Works) - 6th 4x100m relay (Chambers, Johnson, Hannah Perry, Lillian Ryan) - DQ (Exchange out of zone) The State Finals will be held in Bloomington on May 31.
