Tong and 4x800m relay qualify for State Track and Field Championships

May 24, 2024 - Akot Tong, along with Frankie Polyak, Logan Vanzant, and Jace Works, won the 4x800m relay in 7:49.06 at the Greenfield Central Track and Field Regionals, and Tong place third in the 800m (1:55.05) to qualify each event for the upcoming IHSAA State Track and Field Championships. The Bull Dogs placed sixth among 27 teams at the regional. Center Grove won the team title with 107.83 points, followed by Franklin Central (92), Greenfield Central (48), Warren Central (43.83, and Greenwood Community (41). Other Bull Dog participants awaiting potential State meet call-backs included Owen Russell (5th in 300m hurdles and 12th in110m hurdles) Liam Milne (10th in 110m hurdles) Works (11th in 800m) Draven Martinez (5th in 1600m) Jonny Klaus (8th in 3200m) Adam Reckers (10th in 3200m) Drew Schiefer (5th in both shot put and discus) 4x100m relay (Milne, Matt Burge, Ben Stevens, Russell) (9th) 4x400m relay (Works, Tong, Stevens, Derek Arau-Ortiz) The State Championships will be held in Bloomington on June 1.
