Dogs fall in semi state round, Wilson to play on

May 28, 2024 - The 14th-ranked Columbus North tennis team met the end of its season with a 3-2 loss to sixth-ranked and undefeated Franklin Community on Saturday (May 25) at Center Grove High School. Kathryn Wilson got the match started off on the right foot for the Bull Dogs with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at one singles. The Grizzly Cubs evened the match with a 6-3, 6-4 decision at two doubles versus North’s Grace Conner and Lison Cloteaux. Aya Saad pushed the Dogs back in front 2-1 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at two singles before the Cubs earned a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 victory over Lizzie Bodart and Lucy Bergman at two doubles. The fifth and decisive match at three singles went to the Grizzly Cubs as Annabelle Sun fell 1-6, 3-6. The Bull Dogs finished with a 16-6 record, including a perfect 5-0 in Conference Indiana play. One singles player Wilson (shown) will continue in the IHSAA Girls Tennis Individual State Tournament June 7, 8 at North Central High School. The quarterfinal round will be held on Friday with the semi finals and state finals on Saturday.
