Volleyball drops season-opener at Seymour

August 21, 2024 - After dropping the first set to Seymour 25-16, the Bull Dogs volleyball team rallied to win the second set 25-18 and had a 23-16 lead in the third set before the Owls rallied and won set three 26-24. The momentum they gained at the end of the third set propelled Seymour to a 25-17 victory in set four and a 3-1 match victory. Junior Karen Dutro led the team in kills (18), blocks (4), and was second in aces (2) and digs (13). Senior Kennedy Horn added ten kills and four aces, while Elaina Penrod recorded eight kills. Reese Edwards and Holly Evans each had 22 assists, splitting time as setter. Morgan Osborn topped back-row specialists with 25 digs. The JV and freshman teams each won their matches 2-0. The Bull Dogs will host Shelbyville on Thursday in a JV/Varsity doubleheader, beginning at 6:00 pm. Photo: Karen Dutro elevates for one of her 18 kills at Seymour on Tuesday.
