August 23, 2024 - After a scoreless first half at Bloomington North, the Columbus North boys soccer team punched in two second-half goals less than one minute apart and held on for a 2-1 victory over the Cougars to improve to 1-1 for the season and 1-0 in Conference Indiana. Angel Espejel (shown) scored in the 65th minute off of a pass from Leo Iorio to break a scoreless tie. One minute later, Konnor Gribbins scored on a rebound from a free kick by Bryan Rodriguez to put the Dogs up 2-0. The Cougars were able to knock in a free kick with less than a minute to go to cut the lead to 2-1, but it was too little, too late as the Dogs began their Conference Indiana season with a victory. The JV squad opened the event with a 4-1 victory with four different Bull Dogs scoring. The Bull Dogs will compete at the Trojan Classic hosted by Center Grove High School on Saturday, August 24. They will play Elkhart at 10:00 am and Castle at approximately 1:30 pm.
