Dogs kick off season with 41-15 rout of top-ranked Decatur Central

August 25, 2024 - Columbus North has another challenging schedule ahead for the 2024 and they wasted no time playing highly touted programs, opening at Class 5A top-ranked Decatur Central. The Dogs made a statement with a 41-15 victory and a 1-0 record to begin the season. The Dogs scored touchdowns on their first five possessions and the defense forced three fumbles and an interception to dominate the contest. North’s Asher Ratliff was 13-for-22 through the air for 171 yards. Braylon Thoman caught five passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Briner added four catches for 55 yards for the Bull Dog offense. Gino Prescott (shown) was the workhorse for North’s rushing attack, carrying the ball 14 times for 93 yards and three touchdowns. Sam Perry had an interception for the Dogs’ defense and Koleton Sinnock blocked a punt that was recovered by North and led to a touchdown. The JV won a thriller Saturday morning, 20-16, and the freshmen fell 26-16 at Decatur Central. Columbus North will host Columbus East on Friday, August 30 as part of Rivalry Week. Game time is set for 7:00 pm. East will host both the JV and Freshman games Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 am.
