August 28, 2024 - It was a late night for the boys soccer team, who traveled to New Albany for a JV/Varsity doubleheader Tuesday evening. Excessive heat delayed the beginning of the JV match which kept the varsity match from concluding until nearly 10:30 pm. Fortunately for the Bull Dogs, the late night was a bit easier to endure with a 4-1 victory in the varsity match, which followed a 2-0 North victory in the JV match. New Albany got on the board first with a twelfth-minute goal, but that was the last time they’d find the net as the Bull Dogs scored four unanswered goals the rest of the match. Angel Espejel scored in the 26th minute off an assist from Jonathan Garcia Renteria. Garcia Renteria scored himself in the 48th minute with an assist from Leo Ioria. He then knocked in his second goal of the night in the 60th minute (assist from Mathiang Kak). Jonah Sipes closed out the match with an unassisted goal in the 77th minute. North (4-1) allowed only two shots from New Albany, with their goal being the only shot-on-goal in the match. The Bull Dogs pounded 25 shots at New Albany’s net, with thirteen being on-frame. JJ Salcedo Calderon worked the first 66 minutes in goal, allowing the one score, while Noah Marsh kept goal the final 14 minutes. The JV victory pushed their season record to 2-1. Farid Garcia and Advait Aras each had goals in the early match. North will host Columbus East on Thursday at the BCSC Soccer Complex, beginning at 6:00 pm. North students will have free admission with their student ID.
