August 30, 2024 - Head volleyball coach Jenna Ortega knows that in order for the Bull Dogs to continue to improve as a program, they must play a challenging schedule. That philosophy was on full display again last night when the Bull Dogs hosted highly-ranked Roncalli, a Class 4A defending Regional champion. The Dogs fell in straight sets to the Royals, but continued to make progress strengthening their program. The Bull Dogs, who lost 13-25, 9-25, 13-25, were led in kills by Karen Dutro with nine. Dutro also led the team in blocks with four, and North got two each from Kennedy Horn and Elaina Penrod. Morgan Osborn (shown) led with seven digs, while Dutro added four of her own. Both the JV and freshman lost in two competitive sets. The varsity team will travel to the very competitive Bloomington South Invitational on Saturday morning before all three teams will compete at Bloomington North in the Bull Dogs’ conference opener.
