October 16, 2022 - The ball spent quite a bit of time in the Floyd Central offensive zone in the first eight to ten minutes of the Regional Final matchup between Floyd Central and the fourth-ranked Bull Dogs. The rest of the match, however, was dominated by the Bull Dogs en route to a 5-0 victory. Nico Gotoh attacked the Floyd Central (13-5-3) goalkeeper on a breakaway in the 26th minute and an ‘own goal’ coming off of a Gotoh shot put the Bull Dogs on the board, giving the Bull Dogs a 1-0 halftime lead. The Dogs found their rhythm early and often in the second half, putting four goals on the board to blow out the Highlanders in a rematch of a September 22 matchup at Floyd Central, won by the Bull Dogs 2-1. Obed Oliva knocked in a Nathan Imlay assist to put the Dogs up 2-0 in the 44th minute. Imlay then scored an unassisted goal eleven minutes later as North went up 3-0. Misaki Takemoto scored in the 64th minute off of a Christian Cardoso assist, followed two minutes later by a Flynn Keele goal off a Gotoh assist. As has been the case most of the season, Oscar Ballinas and Max Grewe split time in goal with each recording one save. North outshot the Highlanders 17-6 (10-3 shots on goal). The Bull Dogs (18-1-1) will face Cathedral (10-7-5) on Saturday, October 22 at 3:00 pm in Seymour. The Irish earned a spot in the State Semi-finals with a Regional victory over Carmel which ended in a shoot-out. These two teams met on September 1 with the Bull Dogs winning 1-0.
