Girls first, boys second at Rick Weinheimer Cross Country Classic

September 8, 2024 - Columbus North cross country hosted the annual Rick Weinheimer Classic at Ceraland on Saturday (September 7) and the girls won the AA Varsity Girls division among 21 teams, with the boys finishing second in the AA Varsity Boys division among 22 teams. A number of the top programs in Indiana were represented at the meet. Carys Glyn Jones (shown) won the girls individual competition, as she was the only girl among 192 entrants to break the 18-minute mark (17:57.6). Other Bull Dogs earning team points for North included Tristan Works (9th), Kyleigh Wolf (11th), Macy Eaton (12th), Emma Lowther(18th), Ainsley Sherlock (21st), and Adira Sluder (29th). Top five team scores in the girls division included Columbus North 51 Noblesville 63 Milford 107 Floyd Central 122 Bloomington North 180 The boys’ Neal White finished 4th overall (15:13), with the following Bull Dogs scoring team points: Jace Works (7th), Evan Bense (14th), Draven Martinez (18th), Justin Reckers (20th), Jonny Klaus (24th), Graham Pumphrey (29th). Top five team scores in the boys division included Noblesville 46 Columbus North 63 Bloomington North 80 Evansville Reitz 97 Floyd Central 187 20 of the 27 girls and 33 of the 40 boys that competed for Columbus North recorded personal-best times in the meet. The Dogs will compete at the Eagle Classic in Brown County on Saturday, September 14.
