Volleyball season concludes with loss to Franklin Community in Sectional Semifinals

October 16, 2022 - The Columbus North volleyball team finished their season with an 11-17 record after a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs in the semifinals of the Columbus East Sectional. After falling behind two quick sets (8-25, 9-25), the Dogs battled back to take the third set 25-21 before falling 23-25 in set four. Karen Dutro led the Bull Dogs with ten kills and four blocks. Teammate Kennedy Horn added six kills and four blocks. Emily Stair had 13 digs (and served seven points) to go along with Gretchen Babb’s twelve digs. Emma Burns recorded 18 assists for the match. Head coach Jenna Ortega saw a number of positive things coming from the match and the season for the Bull Dogs. “We played with so much heart and dedication (especially in the last two sets). I am so proud of this team and proud of what (the program) is about. We are making some big turns, and I am so excited for the future of our program. We lost today, but we are leaving with lots of growth and positive moments on the day,” Ortega reflected after the match.
