Sixth-ranked boys tennis knocks off third-ranked Center Grove

September 13, 2024 - In a matchup of highly ranked teams, #3 Center Grove hosted #6 Columbus North on Thursday afternoon, and the Bull Dogs came home with a 3-2 victory. “It was one heck of a match,” said Coach Kendal Hammel following the contest. He mentioned a number of his players had “by far their best match of the year.” Hank Lin set the tone early with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in his number one singles match. The Trojans leveled the score 1-1 with a victory over North’s Teddy Littrell at number three singles (1-6, 0-6). The Dogs fell into a 1-2 hole after a 2-6, 2-6 loss at number one doubles by Yoki Murabayashi and Vince Sasse. The final two matches belonged to the Bull Dogs. Parth Shah battled to a 6-3, 6-2 victory at number two singles, setting the stage for Sashu Sabapathy and Michael Crossman’s number two doubles match. Sabapathy and Crossman fell behind early, losing set one 3-6, but rallied for a 6-2 decision in set two. The third and deciding set of the match was won in thrilling fashion by the Bull Dogs 7-6 (8), giving North the 3-2 team victory.
