September 14, 2024 - Columbus North boys soccer improved to 7-2-1 with a 2-0 victory over Carmel in a rare Friday night contest at the BCSC Soccer Complex. The Bull Dogs got on the board in the 20th minute when Mathiang Kak found Parker Gribbins for a goal. Kak then found the net himself on a 33rd-minute penalty kick following a Greyhound foul in the box to complete the scoring in the match. The Bull Dogs had to scrap to maintain the 2-0 advantage, playing down one or two men for all of the second half due to penalties. Goalkeeper JJ Salcedo Calderon helped the Bull Dogs’ defense with eight saves for the match. The Greyhounds outshot the Bull Dogs 23-8, including an 8-4 advantage in shots-on-frame. The JV team (4-2-3) started the night with a 2-1 victory in the early match. Edwin De la Cruz and Advait Aras each had goals for the JV squad. The Dogs will have a few days off to rest and recover before hosting Lawrence North at Richard Wigh Stadium on Thursday, September 19. JV will begin at 6:00 with varsity to follow.
