September 20, 2024 - Columbus North boys soccer allowed only one shot-on-goal against Lawrence North on Thursday night at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex, but the Wildcats made that single shot count as they beat the Dogs 1-0. A second-minute foul by Columbus North (7-3-1) gave Lawrence North a free kick from 30 yards out, which they turned into a goal and an early 1-0 lead. The Bull Dogs would go on to out-shoot the Wildcats 16-6, including a 5-0 shots-on-goal advantage the rest of the match, but the Dogs couldn’t find the back of the net. The JV team started the evening with a 2-1 victory to improve to 5-2-3 for the season. The Bull Dogs will host Terre Haute North on Saturday, September 21 at the BCSC Soccer Complex. JV is scheduled to begin at 12:15 on the grass field just south of the turf field, with the varsity team to follow the varsity girls match on the turf. JV fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for the grass field.
