Chatard hands Bull Dogs their first loss of the season

September 22, 2024 - Columbus North traveled to two-time defending Class 4A champions Bishop Chatard and fell 21-14. The Bull Dogs led 14-7 in the third quarter of a game that was delayed just before halftime due to lightning, but two Chatard fourth quarter touchdowns doomed the Dogs (4-1). North outgained Chatard 364-294, but the Bull Dogs were only 4-for-13 on third and fourth down conversions for the game. Gino Prescott had 18 rushes for 119 yards and a touchdown while Asher Ratliff was 22-for-32 for 212 yards passing, including a touchdown to Jordan Briner in the first quarter. Morgan Knapp had seven receptions to lead North. Luke Russell had 13 tackles and 14 total defensive points and Jose Ramirez added twelve defensive points to lead the Bull Dogs. The JV team improved to 5-0 for the season with a 14-7 victory on Saturday morning, while the freshman team fell 28-6 at Bishop Chatard. Next up for the Bull Dogs will be a Homecoming matchup with Terre Haute North on Friday, September 27. Game time has been pushed back to 7:30 pm due to travel time for the Patriots and their fans.
