September 25, 2024 - After cruising through both sub-varsity matches (JV 2-0, freshman 2-0) and winning the first set against New Albany 25-17, it looked like Columbus North was going to make quick work of New Albany in their non-conference matchup in Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. New Albany had other plans. New Albany turned up the intensity and rolled over North 25-10 and 25-12 in the next two matches to take a 2-1 lead. The home team settled down, however and won the fourth set 25-20 and the fifth set 15-12 to take the match 3-2. Columbus North (9-12) was led defensively by Morgan Osborn’s 17 digs and two blocks each from Kennedy Horn and Karen Dutro. Offensively, Horn and Dutro each had twelve kills, Reese Edwards and Holly Evans each had 17 assists, and Edward and Horn each had three service aces. The Bull Dogs will travel to Floyd Central this evening to take on the Highlanders. The JV and freshman teams are scheduled to begin at 6:00 with the varsity to follow the JV.
