October 2, 2024 - After a 2-0 sweep in the JV match, the Columbus North varsity volleyball team swept Bedford North Lawrence 3-0 to even their season record at 14-14. The Bull Dogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-13 first set victory. The Stars battled back in set two and had a substantial lead before the Bull Dogs rallied and took set two 25-23. The Dogs then used that momentum to close the match with a 25-14 advantage in the third and final set. Kennedy Horn and Karen Dutro each had twelve kills for the Bull Dogs in the match. Holly Evans had twelve assists and Reese Edwards added eleven, while Horn led the team with seven blocks. Evans and Morgan Osborn each had two service aces, and Osborn and Elaina Penrod shared the team lead with seven digs. North will host Columbus East on Thursday evening for its final home match of the season before finishing with three road matches next week. Thursday will be Middle School Night in Memorial Gymnasium. All area middle school players will be admitted free to the match. Two Bull Dogs will also be recognized for reaching career statistical milestones. The JV and freshman matches will begin at 6:00 with varsity to follow the JV.
