October 7, 2024 - What had been a back-and-forth ball game through three and a half quarters became a decisive Conference Indiana victory for Columbus North at Bloomington South on Friday night (October 5). The Bull Dogs scored the final 20 points of the game after trailing 14-12 in the third quarter to take a 32-14 victory over the Panthers, improving to 6-1 for the season. Jose Ramirez and Evan Saevre each had a pair of sacks and forced fumbles to lead the Bull Dog defense, which has allowed 15 points or fewer for the sixth time in seven games. Cole FInney recorded both a sack and a fumble recovery for North. Quarterback Asher Ratliff was 18-for-22 for 188 yards passing, including a pair of touchdown passes. He also rushed for 60 yards on 13 carries and had a touchdown on the ground. Gino Prescott continued his outstanding season with 162 yards rushing on 23 attempts as the offensive line opened running lanes for Prescott throughout the night. Braylon Thoman, who had been sidelined since the Southport game on September 6, returned to the lineup and led all North receivers with eight catches for 82 yards. Garrett Long and Elijah Smith each had touchdown receptions in the victory. The Bull Dogs and Panthers split the Saturday morning sub-varsity games, with North winning the freshman game 40-8 and the Panthers winning the JV matchup 26-22. Columbus North will host Bloomington North on Friday, October 11 at 7:00 pm. Both teams are 6-1 for the season and 3-0 in Conference Indiana with two games to play. The victor will be in the driver’s seat to win the Conference Indiana title. The Bull Dogs will recognize the program’s seniors at halftime of that matchup.
