October 7, 2024 - The Bull Dog boys soccer team completed their regular season with a decisive 8-0 victory over Terre Haute South on Saturday morning. The match had been rescheduled from the previous Saturday due to weather. The Dogs (9-5-1, 3-2) wasted little time expressing their dominance as Jonah Sipes put North on the board with a second-minute goal (assisted by Jonathan Renteria Garcia). Luccas Peda then found Jezreel Rivera to put the Dogs up 2-0 in the 21st minute. Pedda tallied his second assist just one minute later as Sam Brown scored to put the Dogs up 3-0. Renteria Garia scored a goal of his own in the 37th minute off of a Miguel Salamao assist before Benjamin Stevens had an unassisted goal just before halftime to give the Dogs a 5-0 lead at the break. The Braves did not have enough players available to field a JV team, so North’s JV got to play most of the second half of the varsity matchup. Salamao recorded an unassisted goal in the 45th minute and then Parker Gribbins used Renteria Garcia’s second assist of the day to put the Dogs up 7-0. Salamao then found Manuel Valle for the final score of the match in the 63rd minute. Columbus North recorded 50 shots for the match compared to just one for the Braves, including a 25-1 advantage in shots-on-goal. Four Bull Dogs shared time in goal for North, including Noah Marsh, who played the first 40 minutes and didn’t face a shot. Jaden Andrade, Sujay Pingale, and Armando Duran all kept goal in the second half, with Pingale recording the only save for the match. Columbus North will face the winner of the Columbus East versus top-ranked Center Grove first round matchup in the second round of the Center Grove Sectional on Wednesday evening.
