October 9, 2024 - Columbus North and Whiteland girls soccer battled in the first round of the Columbus East Sectional on Tuesday evening, with the Bull Dogs prevailing 1-0. The final score was much closer than the match itself as the Dogs dominated statistically and controlled the ball throughout the match. The Bull Dogs outshot the Warriors 20 to 3, with only one of the Warriors’ shots being on frame (ten for Columbus North).. Whiteland’s goalkeeper kept the Warriors in the match allowing only one score, a first half goal from North’s Rachel Fulp off an assist from Rachel Merritt. But the Dogs defense made sure that was the only goal that they needed as they recorded their 14th shutout in 16 matches this season. Columbus North (13-2-1) has allowed only four goals this season, three of which were to Center Grove in the season’s opening match. The Dogs will look for revenge against the Trojans when they face them in the sectional semifinals on Thursday evening at the BCSC Soccer Complex. The match will begin at 6:00 pm.
