Girls and boys cross country teams advance to State Championships

October 27, 2024 - North’s girls cross country team won the Evansville Regional and the boys finished third, qualifying each for next weekend’s State Championship in Terre Haute. The girls Regional Championship was the 34th in program history, which is the most in IHSAA history. Carys Glyn-Jones won the individual girls race in 18:17.46, finishing three seconds ahead of the runner up. Kyleigh Wolf (7th) and Tristan Works (8th) joined Glyn-Jones in the top ten as the girls won the 23-team event with 49 points. Bloomington South finished second (82 points), with Floyd Central (109), Jasper (138), and Bloomington North (157) joining them in next weekend’s State Finals. The Bull Dog boys finished third behind Bloomington North (51 points) and Evansville Reitz (58) with 82 team points. Finishing fourth and fifth in the boys team division were Edgewood and Floyd Central. Neal White was the boys’ top individual finisher in third place (15:18.0). Jace Works finished eighth to join White in the top ten. The IHSAA State Cross Country Championships will be held at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at 599 S. Tabortown Road in Terre Haute. The girls race is scheduled to begin at 12:00 noon, with the awards ceremony to follow. The boys will begin at 2:30, followed by their awards ceremony. Spectators should be prepared to have spotty wireless service at the venue and should plan to have their tickets purchased and pulled up on their mobile device before entering the event venue.
