Hank Lin wins Individual Boys State Tennis Championship

October 27, 2024 - Senior Hank Lin completed an undefeated season (27-0) with the first boys tennis title in school history. Lin joins Kathryn Wilson (2023, 2024) and Caroline Hedrick (2008) as the only individual tennis state champions from Columbus North. Lin finished his 74-2 career record (as North’s number one singles player. 97-3 overall) with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Tyler Lane (21-4) of Center Grove in the championship match. On Friday, Lin defeated Terre Haute North’s James Belmar (19-5) 6-1, 6-1 in the state quarterfinals before knocking off previously undefeated Garrett Stoltzfus (30-1) of Fairfield 6-2, 6-3 in Saturday morning’s semifinal match. Columbus North (20-2) was eliminated from the IHSAA team tournament by South Bend St. Joseph in the state quarterfinal round on October 18. Columbus North congratulates Hank Lin and head coach Kendal Hammel for this outstanding accomplishment.
