November 4, 2024 - Jeff Case will serve as the first boys volleyball coach in school history as the sport gains sanctioned status from the IHSAA for the first time in 2024-25. Prior to this season, boys volleyball has been a club sport at all Indiana high schools. The 2023-24 school year served as a transition year, with boys volleyball being tagged an “emerging sport” by the IHSAA. Case served as the head girls volleyball coach at Hauser High School from 2002-2023. During his time at Hauser, Case accumulated a 557-188 record, including a 146-17 record in conference play. He was named conference Coach of the Year eleven times and coached the 2017 Indiana South All-Star team. He was the IHSVCA South Central Coach of the Year in 2017. His Hauser teams won 13 sectional championships, six regional championships, a semi-state championship, and were the IHSAA State runners-up. “I’m excited for the new challenge of coaching boys volleyball and being a part of the first season of IHSAA boys volleyball,” Case explained. “I anticipate that there will be challenges, things I don’t know, and things I can’t foresee. Nevertheless, I believe that things that are of value are often difficult. Good teams adapt and overcome obstacles. I’m looking forward to meeting the young men and coaching them in volleyball. I want to teach cross-over skills like leadership, team building, self discipline, and the value of hard work.” Case played club volleyball from the mid-1980s through the early 2000s. He coached middle school volleyball at Hauser for two years before taking over the varsity program. He was also the founder of HAVOC (Hope Area Volleyball Club), originally centered in Hope and now under new leadership beneath the umbrella of Columbus Select Athletics at Nexus Park. Case has been a custom machine fabricator at Capital Industries for 25 years. He has three adult children and three grandchildren. There will be a call-out meeting for any boy interested in joining Case’s inaugural season this spring on Thursday, November 7 at 3:30 pm in the North Athletics conference room.
