December 4, 2024 - Columbus North girls wrestling, in their first season as an IHSAA sanctioned sport, hosted Seymour and Jennings County in the program’s first ever home competitive event. North is only able to field a competitor in six weight classes, so the team scores are not reflective of the level of competition and quality of wrestling exhibited by the Bull Dogs. Officially the Bull Dogs fell 30-36 to Seymour and 6-72 to Jennings County, both schools having nearly full rosters. The program’s two seniors, Reggie Holguin and Arrabella Fortino, were recognized with their families prior to the matches. Vika Konovalenko continued her fine season, winning both of her matches at 125 pounds. Fortino (145), Mia Hernandez (155), and Fatima Aguilar (JV 235) all finished 1-0. Aubreigh Campbell (170) and Holguin (155) each finished 1-1, with Laila Lucas (235) dropping both of her matches. The girls will be back on the mat on Saturday at Monrovia on Saturday, December 7, beginning at 9:00 am.
