December 18, 2022 - After a 40-point victory over Columbus East on Friday night, the Columbus North boys basketball team traveled to Scottsburg (7-1) for the first time since 1985 to take on a very good Warriors team. Scottsburg came out on top of a 61-51 decision. At the opening tip, the Warriors had the five tallest players on the court, ranging from 6-3 to 6-9. Scottsburg’s size made it difficult for the Bull Dogs to finish around the rim, and early struggles from the three-point line by North put the Dogs in a hole. The Bull Dogs had the lead cut to just five points (48-43) with just under three minutes to go, but the Warriors held on for the ten-point victory. Tyler Blythe (shown) had the hot hand for Columbus North, pouring in a team-high 19 points, including five three-point goals. However, the Warriors had two players post 20-point performances and it was too much for the Dogs to overcome. Cooper Horn added eleven points and Luke Harmon ten for Columbus North, who falls to Max Coomes tallied 22 points leading the JV team to a 48-30 victory over Scottsburg in the early game. The JV team remains undefeated (8-0) for the season. The Warriors did not field a ninth-grade team. The Columbus North freshmen (7-1) will host Silver Creek on Monday evening, beginning at 6:00 pm. All three teams will then face Conference Indiana foe Terre Haute South at home on Wednesday, December 21. JV and freshmen will begin at 6:00 with varsity to follow.
