North wrestlers finish 4-1 at East Central Invitational

December 18, 2022 - The Columbus North wrestling team improved its season record to 12-6 after winning four out of five matches in the East Central Invitational on Saturday (December 17). The Dogs won their first four matches, 57-21 over Switzerland County, 63-18 over Guerin Catholic, 66-6 over Lawrenceburg, and 72-6 over Cambridge Lincoln, before falling 45-31 to hosts East Central. The Dogs were forced to forfeit three matches in the final round due illness. Four wrestlers won all five matches in the tournament, including Justice Thornton (18-0), Jason Shuey (15-3), Bryce Hawkins (11-7), and Liam Phillips (16-2). The wrestlers will be back on the mat on December 23 as the JV team heads to New Albany and the varsity wrestles in the ECIC Tournament at Jay County High School.
