Big fourth quarter propels Dogs to conference victory

December 22, 2022 - Columbus North used a 25-point fourth quarter to come from behind Terre Haute South in varsity boys basketball to beat the Braves 60-44 and begin their Conference Indiana season with a victory. Cooper Horn (shown) had a game-high 26 points for the Bull Dogs (6-3, 1-0), while Ty Ferguson and Damon Edwards contributed ten and nine points, respectively. North was 14-for-18 from the free throw line, and knocked down four three-point goals, three of which were in the fourth quarter. The Braves held an advantage on the scoreboard after each of the first three quarters before the Dogs outscored South 25-7 in the fourth quarter to pull away. The JV Bull Dogs won their second overtime game of the season, knocking off the Braves 34-32 behind Max Coomes’ eleven points. The JV team remains undefeated for the season at 9-0. The freshman team improved to 9-1 with a 59-26 victory in the other early game. Caleb Ferguson and Kamden Shelley each had eleven and Mason Acton added ten for the Dogs. The varsity team will play in Noblesville High School’s holiday tournament on December 27-28 and the frosh will be back in action on January 4 when they host Fishers.
