January 2, 2023 - Sophomore Justice Thornton (shown) won the 132-pound weight class at the Spartan Classic in Connersville, leading Columbus North to a fifth-place finish in the 32-team field with 153 points. Greenfield Central won the team title with 214 points. In addition to Thornton’s weight class championship, the Bull Dogs got third-place finishes from Liam Phillips at 160 pounds and Asher Ratliff at 145 pounds. Josiah Green and Jason Shuey each grabbed fifth-place finishes at 152 and 138 pounds, respectively, while Liam Curfman finished seventh at 113 and Evan Saevre carded an eighth-place finish at 170 pounds. The Bull Dogs will be back on the mat at Seymour on Tuesday, January 3 for a 5:00 pm dual meet.
