Bull Dogs finish 4-1 in own wrestling invite

December 15, 2024 - After a rough start to their season, Columbus North wrestling gained some momentum with four wins in five dual matches to finish second in the Columbus North Invitational on Saturday (Dec 14). North defeated Cascade 53-30, Madison 61-17, and Western Boone 51-15 to qualify for the championship bracket. In the semifinals, the Dogs knocked off Bloomington North 55-21 before falling to tournament champion Westfield 46-32. Individual match records for the day included 106: Liam Curfman 3-2 113: James Brown 1-4 120: Nolan Riley 3-2 126: Ty Brueche 3-2 138: Justice Thornton 5-0 144: Cohen Long 5-0 150: Luke Spurgeon 4-1 157: Asher Ratliff 5-0 165: Jackson Haston 5-0 175: Eric Streeval 2-2 190: Evan Saevre 5-0 215: Jonathan Morales 1-4 285: Servando Lozano 4-1 The JV team competed in the Alexandria JV Open and a pair of wrestlers, Juan Garcia Salas, and Rogelio Utera-Piedra each finished with perfect 4-0 records.
