Olympians prevail on the mat

December 19, 2024 - Winter Rivalry Week between Columbus North and Columbus East transitioned from the pool on Tuesday evening to the mat on Wednesday as the two teams squared off for wrestling duals. The Olympians came out on top of both the girls (6-66) and the boys (5-52) duals. Vika Konovalenko earned the only victory for the short-handed girls team, pinning her 125-pound opponent quickly in the first period. The Dogs only had a roster large enough to wrestle four weight classes. Also wrestling for North was Reggie Holguin (145 pounds), Mia Melendres (155), and Fatima Aguilar (235).
