January 7, 2023 - Columbus North fell to 8-5 and 1-1 in Conference Indiana play after a 52-39 loss to Terre Haute North on Friday evening (January 6). After a 28-19 halftime deficit, the Bull Dogs dominated the third quarter to pull within one point of the Patriots after three quarters, 36-35. The Patriots, however, outscored the Dogs 10-0 to begin the fourth quarter, preventing the Bull Dogs from scoring until around two minutes left in the game. The deficit was too much to overcome and Columbus North suffered its first conference loss of the season. Cooper Horn had 15 points for the Bull Dogs, and Tyler Blythe added twelve in the defeat. The Bull Dogs were 5-for-11 from the free throw line and made only two three-point goals. The Patriots, conversely, made 12-of-15 from the charity stripe and knocked down six three-pointers, including two in the decisive fourth quarter. The JV team lost its first game of the year in one of the early games, 45-30, falling to 9-1 (1-1 in Conference Indiana). Max Coomes led the Dogs with eleven points. The freshmen team won its tenth straight game, 31-14, behind 15 points from Caleb Ferguson to improve to 10-1 for the season. The Bull Dogs will host Mooresville (7-6) on Friday, January 13, beginning at 6:00 pm, in a non-conference matchup.
