January 17, 2025 - Columbus North and Hauser renewed their cross-county rivalry series in Hope on Thursday evening and the Bull Dogs’ hot shooting and the Jets’ struggles from the free throw line led to a 60-44 Columbus North victory. Max Coomes knocked down three first quarter three-point goals as the Bull Dogs jumped out to an early 21-15. The Bull Dogs then cranked up the defensive pressure and held the Class A seventh-ranked Jets without a basket in the second quarter to take a 32-19 lead into the halftime break. While the Jets mounted rallies in the second half, the Dogs would answer each time and pulled away for a 16-point victory, improving to 8-3 for the season. Coomes added a fourth three-point basket in the second quarter as the Dogs tallied twelve threes for the game. The Jets were unable to overcome the three-point barrage and didn’t help themselves from the free throw line, finishing 9-for-19 from the stripe. The Bull Dogs made all four of their free throw attempts. Coomes’ twelve points was part of a balanced scoring attack by the Bull Dogs. Four Dogs finished with double digit scoring, led by 14 each from Caleb Ferguson and Austin Perry, and 13 from Nate Enneking to go along with Coomes’ twelve points. Columbus North won the JV contest 52-37, with Zach Fedor leading North with 13 points. Hauser did not have a freshman team. The Bull Dogs will host Mooresville on Friday night, beginning at 6:00 pm. The Dogs will welcome members of the Columbus Revolution teams and their coaches to be recognized at halftime of the varsity contest.
