Columbus North sweeps the Pioneers in boys basketball

January 18, 2025 - After winning the two early games (JV 61-50 and 9th 58-47), the Bull Dogs completed the three-game sweep of Mooresville with a 70-61 victory in the varsity game in Memorial Gymnasium on Friday evening. The Dogs jumped out to a 17-8 lead after one quarter and pushed the lead to 35-21 at halftime. North led by as many as 17 in the second half before the Pioneers mounted a comeback, cutting the lead to just five with 1:05 left to play. The Dogs made 18-of-19 free throws in the fourth quarter to post their ninth victory in twelve games this season. Caleb Ferguson had 22 points, Austin Perry added 17, and the Dogs got twelve each from Garrett Long and Nate Enneking. The JV team was led by Brennan Hester and Zach Fedor who each had 11 points. Eli Wrightsman added 10 for North. Reid Perry had 18 points to lead the freshmen to their seventh victory of the season. The freshman team will travel to Silver Creek on Tuesday evening and the varsity team will be off until Saturday, January 25 when they travel to Perry Meridian for a trio of afternoon games. The JV and freshman games are scheduled to begin at Perry Meridian at 2:00 with the varsity to follow around 3:30.
