Grapplers finish second at Conference Indiana wrestling championship

January 14, 2023 - Columbus North crowned two Conference Indiana champions, Justice Thornton at 132 pounds, and Jason Shuey at 138 as the Bull Dogs accumulated 246 team points, good enough for a second-place finish behind Terre Haute South (282). The Dogs finished 24 points ahead of third-place Bloomington South (222). Terre Haute North finished fourth (183), Southport was fifth (176.5) and Bloomington North finished sixth (129). Bull Dog individual results (and season records) included 106 pounds: Nolan Riley (12-14) placed third 113 pounds: Liam Curfman (13-9) placed third 120 pounds: Anay Acevedo (5-3) placed sixth 126 pounds: Bryce Hawkins (18-13) placed fourth 132 pounds: Justice Thornton (29-1) placed first 138 pounds: Jason Shuey (25-6) placed first 145 pounds: Asher Ratliff (25-6) placed second 152 pounds: Josiah Green (24-11) placed fourth 160 pounds: Liam Phillips (26-4) placed second 170 pounds: Keller DeSpain (16-5) placed second 182 pounds: Evan Saevre (9-7) placed second 195 pounds: Jose Ramirez (20-7) placed third 220 pounds: Bryce Luttrell (12-18) placed third 285 pounds: Cody Thurnall (17-12) placed second The Bull Dogs will face Bedford North Lawrence at home on Thursday. JV is scheduled to begin at 6:00 with varsity to follow.
