Seven Columbus North student athletes participate in February 5 collegiate signing ceremony

February 5, 2025 - Seven Columbus North student athletes will participate in a collegiate signing ceremony hosted by the Columbus North Athletics Department on Wednesday, February 5 in the CNHS Cafeteria beginning at 5:30 pm. Each athlete will be presented by Athletic Director Brian Lewis and a representative from their high school coaching staff. Family, friends, and teammates of each athlete will be in attendance. Student athletes participating in this ceremony represent Columbus North boys cross country, girls cross country, boys track and field, girls track and field, boys soccer, girls volleyball, boys golf, and football programs. These student athletes’ future colleges or universities represent the NCAA Division I, Division II, and Division III levels, as well as NAIA. The Bull Dog student athletes planning to participate in the February signing ceremony include the following: Kennedy Horn is signing to play volleyball at Division 1 Seton Hall University in South Orange Village, New Jersey. Kennedy was an All-Conference Indiana hitter following both her junior and senior seasons. She was a two-time captain, named MVP her senior year, as well as Academic All-State. She broke the program’s career kills record her senior year. She was named The Republic Volleyball Player of the Year and led the team her senior season in kills, blocks, and aces. Kennedy is a member of the National Honors Society and an Academic letter recipient. She plans to study health sciences at Seton Hall on her way to medical or physician’s assistant school following her undergraduate studies. Cole Stevens is heading to Division III Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana to run both cross country and track and field. Cole selected Rose Hulman after considering an offer from Wabash College. He was twice named Academic All-State by the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches and was a part of Columbus North’s State Meet qualifying teams at the end of both his junior and senior seasons. The boys finished sixth in each of these State Championship meets. While at Rose Hulman, Cole plans to study Electrical Engineering. Carys Glyn-Jones plans to attend Division 1 Butler University in Indianapolis to run both cross country and track. Carys was named All-Conference in cross country (2024), All-State in track and field (2023, 2024), and All-State in cross country (2024). She earned MVP honors for track and field (2024) and cross country (2023, 2024). She is the current school record holder in the 800m event, and was a member of the State Champion 4x800m relay team. She was the 800m Conference Indiana champion and placed sixth in the State meet in the same event in 2024. She was Conference Indiana, Sectional, and Regional cross country champion in cross country and finished 19th at the State meet. She was named The Republic Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year following both her 2023 and 2024 seasons. Carys was also given an offer to compete at Indiana University before choosing Butler. While at Buler, Carys plans to major in Political Science with a goal of attending law school. Kyleigh Wolf is signing to run cross country and track and field at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana. Kyleigh also received offers from Xavier, the University of Memphis, and IU Indianapolis. She was named to The Republic All-Area team four times for cross country and three times for track and field with one season remaining. She was part of the 2021 cross country State championship team as well as the 4x800m relay State championship team the following spring. As a junior, Kyleigh earned MVP honors for the cross country team and was named All-Conference in both cross country and track. She repeated her All-Conference honors in cross country as a senior and was Honorable Mention Academic All-State. She earned the Bull Dog Award following her senior season of cross country. Kyleigh plans to study nursing while at Evansville. Juan Jose Salcedo will be staying in Columbus to compete in men’s soccer at NAIA IU Columbus. JJ was named All-Conference Indiana following the 2023 season and is a two-time member of The Republic All-Area Team. He recorded 104 saves in goal in two years at Columbus North and was the recipient of the David Green “Spirit of the Game” award following his junior season. Juan Jose also had an offer from the University at Albany in New York and he will be studying nursing while at IU Columbus. Carter Battin is signing to play men’s golf at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, an NAIA school near Terre Haute, Indiana. Carter was a member of the 2024 Conference Indiana runners-up team from Columbus North and was named the team’s Most Improved Player. He was named Honorable Mention for The Republic All-Area team following his junior season. Between his junior and senior seasons, Carter placed third at a summer golf tournament. He considered an offer from Marian University’s Ancilla College before deciding to attend Saint Mary-of-the-Woods to study General Business. Bryce Harriman has chosen to play football at the Division II University of Indianapolis after considering offers from Campbell University, Taylor University, and the University of St. Francis. Bryce was a preseason All-State pick by the Football Digest, a First Team All-Conference selection in 2024, and a two-year captain. Bryce earned the “Most Valuable Lineman” Award from his teammates, and was recently selected to the All-Region 10 team, making him eligible to be selected for next summer’s North-South All-Star Game. Bryce was a rare four year varsity player in the football program, and will study Sports Management while at UIndy. Three Bull Dog athletes participated in a similar ceremony on November 11, 2024, and there will be one final collegiate signing ceremony for the Class of 2025 on April 16, 2025.
