Dogs with second place finish at Jennings County wrestling sectional

January 29, 2023 - Columbus North grapplers crowned three Sectional Champions and advanced twelve wrestlers to the Jeffersonville Regional en route to a second-place team finish at the ten-team Jennings County Sectional. Justice Thornton (132 pounds), Asher Ratliff (145 pounds), and Liam Phillips (160 pounds) all won their respective weight classes. Columbus East won the team title for the eighth straight year with 258 points. Columbus North was second with 224 points, well ahead of third-place Jennings County. Complete Bull Dog results included Nolan Riley (17-15) 3rd place at 106 pounds Liam Curfman (18-10) 3rd place at 113 pounds Bryce Hawkins (22-15) 4th place at 126 pounds Justice Thornton (34-1) 1st place at 132 pounds Jason Shuey (27-8) 2nd place at 138 pounds Asher Ratliff (29-6) 1st place at 145 pounds Josiah Green (28-12) 2nd place at 152 pounds Liam Phillips (31-4) 1st place at 160 pounds Evan Saevre (11-9) 4th place at 170 pounds Keller DeSpain (20-7) 3rd place at 182 pounds Jose Ramirez (24-8) 2nd place at 195 pounds Jonathan Morales (2-2) did not place at 220 pounds Cody Thurnall (21-14) 3rd place at 285 pounds The Jeffersonville Regional will take place at Jeffersonville High School on Saturday, February 4. Photo: Freshman Asher Ratliff secured his 29th victory of the year in winning the 145-pound weight class at the Jennings County Sectional wrestling tournament. Ratliff will join eleven other Bull Dogs who advanced to next Saturday’s Jeffersonville Regional.
