February 3, 2023 - Columbus North hosted the girls Sectional Prelims on Thursday evening (February 2) and a number of Bull Dogs advanced to Saturday’s Sectional Finals. Sectional champions in each event will advance to the State Finals, plus any non-winning swimmer who meets the State Standard time in the given event, plus the next fastest times across the state that will bring the total in each event to 32. Competing in the A-Final heats on Saturday with a chance to advance to the State Finals include these Columbus North swimmers: 200 yard medley relay team, Katie Frazier in the 200 yard freestyle, Ainsley Sherlock in the 200 yard individual medley, Karissa Bevis and Brooklyn Pendleton in the 50 yard freestyle, Bevis in the 100 yard freestyle, the 200 yard freestyle relay, Sherlock in the 100 yard breaststroke, and the 400 yard freestyle relay. North swimmers advancing to the B-Finals (or as event alternates) on Saturday include Nicole Brault in the 200 yard freestyle, Cora Tregoning in the 200 yard individual medley, Georgia Abdallah in the 50 yard freestyle, Pendleton in the 100 yard butterfly, Buntin in the 100 yard freestyle, Frazier, Tregoning, and Brault in the 500 yard freestyle, Buntin in the 100 yard backstroke, and Abdallah in the 100 yard breaststroke. Athletes in the B-Finals will only advance to the State Finals if they meet the State Standard time for that event. Sectional diving finals will begin at 9:00 am Saturday in the Columbus North pool, with swim finals starting at 1:00.
