February 23, 2025 - Seven Bull Dog senior boys basketball players and six basketball cheerleaders were honored before the varsity boys basketball game with Franklin Community on Saturday night, and the crowd was treated to a competitive game with last-minute heroics. Trailing 52-51 with under 20 seconds to play, Caleb Ferguson drove the left side of the lane and kicked the ball out to Austin Perry near the top of the key. Perry elevated and buried the game-winning three-point goal with around ten seconds to play. The Grizzly Cubs, left with no timeouts, were forced to settle for a desperation shot from deep in the corner as time expired. The shot was off the mark and the Dogs won 54-52. Perry and Ferguson each had twelve points for the Dogs, and Nate Enneking led North with 15. The Dogs hit eight three-pointers for the game, none bigger than Perry’s last-second shot. The Grizzly Cubs led by five at the half thanks to a 5-0 run to end the second quarter, but the Dogs (18-3) made a third-quarter run, cutting the deficit to just one at 47-46 heading into the final stanza. Franklin Community had led by ten points on two different occasions during the contest. The JV team opened the evening with a 70-51 victory, pushing their season record to 15-6. Jack Whaley had 15 points to pace the Dogs and Zach Fedor added eleven. The Bull Dogs’ final regular season game will be at Center Grove on Thursday, February 27 before beginning sectional play the following week.
