February 28, 2025 - Columbus North boys basketball claimed its twelfth consecutive victory with a 53-41 decision at Center Grove. The victory will bring to an end a 19-3 season for the Bull Dogs who will face Columbus East in the first round of the Columbus East Sectional on Tuesday, March 4. The Dogs jumped out to a 16-9 advantage after one quarter and lead 28-22 at halftime. The Trojans were able to hang around in the second half (trailing only 39-30 after three quarters), but the outcome never seemed in doubt as the Bull Dogs answered every Trojan run with a run of their own and maintained a comfortable margin throughout. Caleb Ferguson led North with 18 points and Austin Perry added nine. Eight different Bull Dogs scored as North continued the balanced offensive attack that has been their strategy all season. Columbus North’s JV team overcame a 13-point deficit in the second half to cut the Trojans’ lead to just two late in the game, but a key three-point play by Center Grove allowed the Trojans to hold on for a 47-43 victory. Mason Acton led North with 14 points as the younger squad finished their season with a 15-7 record. Columbus North and Columbus East will tip off at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, March 4 at Columbus East High School. The winner will face Franklin Community on Friday, March 7.
