March 16, 2025 - For the third consecutive season, the Columbus North gymnastics team finished fourth place at the IHSAA State Gymnastics Championships in Muncie. The podium finish caps off a season that saw the Dogs go undefeated in dual meets, win the Connersville Invitational, and earn Conference Indiana, sectional, and regional championships on their way to the state finals. The Dogs were once again led by senior Reese Euler. Euler finished her outstanding career with a runner-up finish on the floor exercise, an eighth place finish on vault, and ninth place finishes on uneven bars and balance beam, en route to a seventh place finish in the all-around. Ft. Wayne Bishop Dwenger and Valparaiso battled through the final rotation for the state team title, with Dwenger edging the Vikings 112.975-111.700 to earn the crown. The real race was for places three through six as the four positions were decided by only seven-tenths of a point. Angola finished third (108.750), with the Bull Dogs (108.275) edging Crown Point (108.150) for fourth place. Homestead finished just behind (108.025) to earn sixth place. New Palestine (106.775), Northwestern (106.550), and Bloomington North (104.250) completed the team scoring in the nine-team event. Columbus North’s berth in the State Finals was the 19th consecutive trip to State for the Bull Dogs, tying for the longest streak in IHSAA history. Freshman Hayden Harper also competed in the all-around for the Bull Dogs, finishing 22nd, thanks to a 33rd place finish on vault, a 14th place finish on uneven bars, a 22nd place finish on balance beam, and a 40th place finish on the floor exercise. Junior Hannah Perry finished 20th on the vault, tied for 15th on the balance beam, and tied for 28th on the floor exercise, but did not compete on uneven bars. Junior Ellie McIntier finished 29th on both the vault and the uneven bars. Sophomore Emerson Chambers earned a 28th place finish on uneven bars, and finished 34th on the floor exercise. Freshman Peyton Hewitt competed on the balance beam and finished 19th. Also dressing but not competing at the State Finals for North was senior Arwyn Tian. The conclusion of the season will finish the careers of the two Bull Dog seniors, Euler and Tian. The remainder of the squad will return next year to vie for an IHSAA record 20th consecutive trip to the State Finals.
