Softball drops season opener

April 1, 2025 - After a scrimmage last week against the Indianapolis Marlins Homeschool softball team, the two teams met for an official game to kick off the 2025 season with the Marlins taking a 4-3 victory. Bailee Scruggs and Payton Morris shared pitching duties for the Bull Dogs with Scruggs getting the start and throwing the first four innings. She allowed three runs on three hits while striking out seven and walking four. Morris threw the last 2-⅓ innings, allowing three hits and the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh. She struck out two and walked a pair of batters. The Bull Dogs tallied six hits for the night, with Summer Williams and Morris each having two hits. Morgan Jarvis, Williams, and Morris scored the three runs for the Bull Dogs, with Morris and Miley McClellan each posting RBI. The Dogs will host East Central on Thursday at the Southside Elementary diamonds. Varsity will begin at 6:00, with a four-inning JV game scheduled to follow.
