April 9, 2025 - Freshman Jack Whaley homered for the third time in as many games as the Bull Dogs rallied for an extra-inning victory at East Central on Tuesday evening. North jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but trailed 9-5 after four innings as four defensive errors and eight walks allowed hurt the Bull Dogs. However, the Dogs scored three in the fifth, one in the seventh, and two more in the eighth to seal the non-conference road victory. Jesse Clark was 4-for-4 for the night with three RBI. The Dogs got two RBI each from Layne Schrader and Whaley. Franko Ortega got the start on the mound for the Bull Dogs, throwing three innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits while walking two and striking out four. Schrader tossed just one-third of an inning, allowing five runs (three earned) while walking three. Brock Kintner finished the final four-and-two-thirds innings. He allowed only two hits and no runs while striking out seven and walking three. The Bull Dogs (2-1) will host Jeffersonville at 6:00 this evening to open their home schedule. The JV team will host Shelbyville, beginning at 5:30.
