Tennis opens season with 3-2 victory over Center Grove

April 9, 2025 - With two-time State singles champion Kathryn Wilson lost to graduation, and the Bull Dogs facing a number of preseason injuries, head coach Kendal Hammel had to be pleased that his North girls tennis team were able to rally for a 3-2 victory in their season-opening match against Center Grove. The Dogs lost the first two matches, but won the final three to earn the non-conference victory. Individual match results, in order of finish, included: 3 Singles: Ayane Umemura L 0-6, 1-6 2 Singles: Lucy Bergman L 1-6, 3-6 2 Doubles: Grace Conner/Nino Akhalaya W 6-4, 6-2 1 Singles: Aya Saad W 4-6, 6-0, 4-1 (ret) 1 Doubles: Annabelle Sun/Lizzie Bodart W 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-4 Center Grove won 12 of 13 reserves matches. The Bull Dogs will travel to Seymour on Thursday evening. Matches are scheduled to get underway at 4:45 pm.
