April 10, 2025 - In the first two games of the season, Columbus North softball had been plagued by defensive errors and they were unable to come up with the timely hit. If Wednesday night’s game against East Central was any indication, the Dogs have put those troubles behind them. North routed the previously undefeated Trojans 11-0 in a run-rule shortened non-conference matchup at the Southside Elementary diamonds. The Bull Dogs (1-2) pounded out eleven hits, including three each by leadoff hitter Morgan Jarvis and Lily Retz. One of Retz’s hits was a homerun as she collected four RBI for the night. The Dogs also got a pair of hits from Payton Morris and Bailee Scruggs. Scruggs also got the start in the pitcher’s circle and pitched a five-inning gem. Scruggs allowed just two hits while striking out six batters and walking none. The defense behind her was just as solid, committing just one error in five innings of work. The two JV teams battled to a 6-6 tie in the second game. Both teams will be on the road Thursday evening at Shelbyville. First pitch for the varsity game is set for 5:30 pm.
