February 17, 2023 - East Central High School played host to the IHSAA Boys Sectional Swim Prelims on Thursday, February 16, and several Columbus North swimmers have qualified for Saturday’s Sectional Finals. Sectional champions in each event will advance to the State Finals, plus any non-winning swimmer who meets the State Standard time in the given event, plus the next fastest times across the state that will bring the total in each event to 32. Competing in the A-Final heats on Saturday with a chance to advance to the State Finals include these Columbus North swimmers: 200 yard medley relay (Prat Badve, Cole Ehara, Brock Smith, Jude Abdallah), Abdallah in the 200 yard freestyle, Badve and Isaac Proffitt in the 50-yard freestyle, Smith in the 100 yard butterfly, Proffitt in the 100 yard freestyle, Abdallah in the 500 yard freestyle, the 200 yard freestyle relay (Proffitt, David Zhang, Aarush Mahato, Deglan Cunningham), Badve and Maclain Clock in the 100 yard backstroke, and the 400 yard freestyle relay (Abdallah, Zhang, Clock, and Cunningham). Qualifying for the B-finals (or as one of the two alternates in each event) included these Columbus North swimmers: Mahato in the 200 yard freestyle, Cunningham in the 200 yard individual medley, Zhang in the 50 yard freestyle, Mahato and Cunningham in the 100 yard butterfly, Zhang in the 100 yard freestyle, Ehara in the 500 yard freestyle, Saisri Harshith Devaguptapu in the 100 yard backstroke, and Smith in the 100 yard breaststroke. Sectional diving finals will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, February 18, with swimming finals set to begin at 1:00 pm at East Central High School.
