April 15, 2025 - One of the most frustrating positions in athletics is being a pitcher who just can’t seem to find the strike zone. A couple of Bull Dog pitchers ran into that problem against highly-ranked Center Grove on Monday night. An eleven-run third inning by the Trojans turned into a 14-3 loss for the Bull Dogs, dropping them to 3-3 for the season. Franko Ortega pitched 2-⅓ innings after getting the start on Monday night. He allowed six runs on five hits while walking five and striking out two. Jayden Adorno came on in relief in the third inning and allowed seven runs (five earned) on one hit and five walks. Dillon Long then threw the final 2-⅔ innings, allowing one run on no hits. Long walked one and struck out one. Macario Mendez recorded two of the Dogs’ four hits. Jayce Emmitt had one hit and one RBI, and Long had a late-inning hit for North. The varsity Bull Dogs will travel to Batesville this evening (April 15) for a non-conference matchup beginning at 6:00. The JV will play at Hauser beginning at approximately 5:00. Photo: Macario Mendez had two hits and a walk against Center Grove on Monday evening.
